Company profile Ocean Orchids trgovina in storitve is a limited liability company (d.o.o.), which was established in the summer of 2003. The company is located in Dobrovnik in the Prekmurje region, near Slovenia’s borders with Croatia and Hungary.

Ocean Orchid’s primary field of business is production of potted flowering orchids. We are the only company in SE Europe to produce the Phalaenopsis orchids commercially. In a 3 hectare greenhouse we pot and grow up to 1.300,000 orchids per year.

Two of the Ocean Orchids founders, Roman Ferenčak and Tomaž Jevšnik, used to live and work in the Netherlands and, as a result, the Ocean Orchids professional concept is closely connected to this country. Ocean Orchids also works with two Dutch partner companies. One is Anuthra (with over 30 yrs of experience in plant production and selling they are Ocean Orchids’ young plants supplier). The other is Kubo, one of the most prominent world-renowned greenhouse builders.

Ocean Orchid’s target markets are Slovenia and its three neighbouring countries – Hungary, Italy, and Croatia. Besides these countries, our business is oriented towards states south of Slovenia, since these regions showed great interest in the orchid supply business when our first production of plants was launched in 2006. Besides wholesale traders from these countries, Ocean Orchids sells its products through Flora Holland, a Dutch flower auctioneer and Europe’s widely known flower marketer. Part of our sales department, which handles our plant supply services for Western Europe, is located in the Netherlands.
